Dining & Cooking Classes

Food is a an important part of any visit to Morocco and at Kasbah d'Eau has its own beachfront restaurant

Food is a an important part of any visit to Morocco and at Kasbah d’Eau  you have the services of a full time chef, specialising in traditional Moroccan dishes including the famous tagines salads and cous-cous as well as the fresh fish caught on the doorstep.

European tastes, particularly those of children, are also catered for and for those taking a riad exclusively you have a fully equipped kitchen for self-catering if you wish.

One of most popular services is our cooking demonstrations and lessons, where you accompany the chef to the souks to find the freshest ingredients and then help him prepare a fabulous meal for you. These are in great demand at busy times so reserve your slot as soon as you arrive

All rates include a simple breakfast and other meals can be chosen each day. Alternatively there are half a dozen cafes and restaurants within a short walk and many more fabulous places to eat in Essaouira.

We are also able to arrange visits to the local village for lunch and this is a great way to experience Berber hospitality and maybe combine with a demonstration on making Argan oil.

Kasbah d'Eau

9633+9JP, Sidi Kaouki 44000, Morocco

Kasbah d'Eau is in the village of Sidi Kaouki, 10 miles (16km) south of Essaouira, one of the prettiest towns in Morocco, with its ramparts and medina full of traditional shops, great bars and wonderful restaurants. The beach is the main attraction with surfing, windsurfing and kitesurfing for the adrenalin junkies, horseback and camel rides to explore the area, and quadbike tours to get into the dunes and down the coast. It is also a place beloved by runners and walkers - the immediate beach is 1.5 miles (2.5km) in length and then miles more beyond that - even at the busiest times finding calm and solitude is never an issue. Essaouira is a 25-minute taxi ride away (around £10/€12 each way) and it is easy to pop in for an afternoon shopping in the medina, or an evening in one of the wonderful restaurants. Essaouira's international airport is 15 minutes away, and Marrakech is 3 hours by taxi (or bus from Essaouira) for connections all over the world.
